A Good Book

So, as many of you know I am a huge fan of books on tape. I love listening to stories while I drive to and from work, or when I am at work and alone in the front area. It is a way I can multitask and enjoy it. Actually I am blogging and listening to a story now. :)

This week, on the recommendation of a great librarian, I listened to Olive's Ocean by Kevin Henkes.

This is a fairly short YA book about a 12 year old girl named Martha Boyle, she goes to her grandmother's for summer holiday and has some interesting, simple experiences. The book made me remember some simpler times in my life and also think about what is really important in my life. It is an easy read, but definately worth your time.

I hope you are all reading fun books yourselves. Have a wonderful weekend. Loves.

  1. I am still in the middle of the twilight series. And loving it might i add! When I am done I will definitely take you up on this. Sounds like a good read and by your short description, one i would enjoy!
I don't do well 'listening' to books unless it's Shawns voice reading them to me, I usually just fall asleep. LOL i think I get too relaxed. Plus i love looking at the words on the page.. for some reason they just look so appetizing when I really get into a book, like I want to devour them! LOL

    Love you deary!

  3. Alyse- I LOVE reading books. I wish that I had more time to sit and absorb them. Listening to them is second best but I get to enjoy more stories that way than I would otherwise. If I try to listen to them in bed or on the couch I do fall asleep sometimes. :)

Michelle- I am so impressed with how much work you put into your writing. Don't forget to relax sometimes though. Good Luck.

  4. Glad to see you found something positive to off-balance the bad movies.

As for audiobooks, the only thing I can multi-task them with is driving or jigsaw puzzles. Can't even hold a conversation with someone else or watch a movie like you can. That's more processing power than my cranium can contribute. I'm sure if I tried, I'd forget to do something important, like breathing. ;->
