Snow is great when I get the chance to go up in the mountains and enjoy the skiing. But, this winter has seemed worse than normal and continues to drag on and on. Perhaps memory has dimmed past winters...either way the winter seems determined to continue to attack Utah. Waking up on Thursday I saw that the snow monster had struck again! Though the sun was out, the ground was once again snow covered.

Talk about dreamlike moments. I have grown up loving her work and had the chance to meet her several times before. However, this trip was all about getting to know each other so she can paint a portrait of me! I got to stay at her house with her and Ed, tour her studio, do a photo shoot and just spend a wonderful two days with her. We even watched AI together and I got to explain some of the music lingo to her.
One of the best things was the opportunity to take a few hours and walk on the beach! I have missed the ocean so much and am so glad I got to relax there.
Course Dad could have warned me about the big wave about to attak me...

Mom & Dad took a driving trip and met up with me when I flew in.
We ended the trip with a fabulous afternoon in San Francisco.

Followed by dinner at the fabulous House of Prince Rib. One on my favorite resaurants in the whole world.
All in all the whole time in California was fabulous. I was reminded that whether it is the sandy beach or the snow topped mountain the whole earth is beautiful and has something to offer me.
How exciting that you are going to start your garden! Pretty please do share pictures as you get it going! I want to cheer you on! ;->
ReplyDeleteAnd I soooooo can relate about starting a post and then life delay. My most recent post was originally begun March 17. Eek! * shudders * Hopefully it won't happen to either of us again.
I think Becca-chan's sister had the most amusing insight on the weather last week: linkOoooh, what a stunning picture of Timp. I miss that view, even just being around the point of the mountain. Thank you so much for sharing!
Glad to hear you had fun with Lynn and Ed in Carmel! With a treat of Mom and Dad joining in. That looks like a lot of sun. I predict Michelle will get beach-crazy from those pictures, especially the one of you wading in the surf.
Well, even if it is undesired snow in Utah, I'm glad to have you home. Love you, Sis!
PS That turtle looks so cute! I could just eat it up!
Alicia-
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment and encouragement! I spent lots more time on this post then I planned but i did get a bit done in the yard/garden, before heading to Mom's for dinner with the fam and parmleys. Sorry you couldn't make it.
I get beach crazy looking at my own pictures...lol. I actually couldn't cut the turtle! Scott had to do it. But, the other loaf was a Teddy Bear and I absolutely refused to take that one! No bearicide for me. ;)
No worries about the delayed posts. I look forward to reading your blog when you get caught up. Hugs.
I can't wait to see your portrait! That would be like a dream come true to have one of your favorite artists do a portrait!!!! Wow oh wow!
ReplyDeleteI think your fun trip makes up for the bummed out Vegas weekend. On that note when Anthony was 1 year old I "forced" a trip to visit Steve's Mom in Wyoming. There were a ton of signs that we shouldn't go. We went anyway and we got in an accident with a semi on slick roads. It was very scary and I will NEVER force a trip again. When life tells me to stay in bed I do!
I haven't been to the beach in over 20 years. You are so lucky! I've experienced the snow here, so when I get back to Australia I should make Scott take me to a beach! :D
ReplyDeleteHave fun with the gardening, Young Sprout!
I have to say that I agree with do live in a gorgeous area, but there really is nothing like digging your toes into the sand.
ReplyDeleteLooks and sounds like you had a great time, and yes I will be back to view these pics because I am still severely jealous of your beach vaca! :D
Glad you had fun Holly!
I can't wait to see the portrait Lynn does of you! :D
Great times! And I'm soo jealous. That's where my Naomi would live, you know. :D
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what Lynn paints. WOW! Always so beautiful. Glad you had a great time. And yes, I have to agree that even though the snow was annoying, it sure was a beautiful sight.
Looks like a fun trip! Love the bread sea turtle. Your hair is getting so long!!! Lucky.
ReplyDeleteWe were in Utah during the random snow storm, sorry we didn't come see you guys it was a CRAZY trip...we were only in town seven days and running around like a mad woman. Seems like once you have kids all the relatives expect you to visit.
Will be back in town in a couple months and hope to see you then.
