What is it about me that makes me always late! Even when I meticulously plan things out and am very careful about estimating how long things take and plan very carefully I still somehow manage to be late!
The Summer Semester at UVU started today and so I am going back to school. (But the end is finally starting to be in sight!) I knew if I left work 1/2 hour before the start of class time I should be able to park, find the classroom, and get to class on time. I really wanted to start the semester right, work towards my new year goal of time management and arrive on time.
However, five minutes before I was to walk out the door four guests walked in the door swamping Pat. And of course they all had complicated problems that she didn't know how to help them with. So I ended up having to stand at the desk fixing reservation extensions (that clash with someone else's reservation), an incorrect billing to an extended stay guest, and some other problems.
In the end I was nearly 25 minutes late arriving to class! It is so frustrating that no matter how hard I work, something always seems to conspire against my being on time. I can't ignore the customers and their needs and yet I can't skip class! Is there some cosmic joke that means I will never be able to be on time! (sigh)

It is had to get it all together. I suggest planning on leaving 1 hour before class. If you get there early, you can alway answer emails.
ReplyDeleteAwww, sweetie. :(
ReplyDeleteHave you tried setting all your clocks 10 minutes fast? That can help sometimes. And Terry has a good point - 1 hour cushion is a definite plus!
Life happens at the most inconvenient times, doesn't it? I know well that despairing feeling you get when you want to be somewhere else and you get stuck doing something and the clock keeps ticking away... That pretty well describes every time I had a good reason for wanting to leave work early. Sigh! Better luck next time!
ReplyDeleteBecause reality is on a different clock form the reasonable. At least that's my best guess from my life. Plan twice as long as expected... and it takes four times as long. Leave four times as long open and end up sitting bored for half of it. It just never matches up, does it?!
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping the mess delaying you on the first school day cleared the way for a problem-free semester. Keep going, you are getting close and YOU CAN DO IT!!
I'm sorry dear, these things just seem to be out of our control sometimes. I loved pampering you last night :) Can't wait to see you again.
ReplyDeletePS RILU! *hugs*
